2008 Faire wishlist

Thursday, November 1, 2007, 12:42 AM EST [General]

If I can have my way (which I usually can't but here's to hoping) I'll make the following faires in 2008. These are the ones I really want to make but hope I'll get to experiance a few more as well.

Songwood (Manvel, TX) - Feb. 23/24 - Opening Weekend

    BARF (FL) - March 15/16 - St. Patty's Weekend

TNRF (Arrington-Triune, TN) - May 26-28 - Memorial Day Weekend

PARF (Manheim, PA) - As many times as possible throughout the season

NYRF (Tuxedo, NY) - As much as I can when I can't make PARF

MDRF (Crownsville, MD) - At least one weekend

TRF (Plantersville, TX) - Halloween Weekend (Not sure if they will celebrate 10/25-26 or 11/1-2)

    OH and TX

Well I haven't gotten in here and written much in awhile and I've traveled to two faires since my last post so I figured I'd sit down and write about them both.

I had a great time off in OH in September. It was an honor to attend the handfasting of Capt. Sin and his lovely first mate Willa Swallow. The trip out was a long one, hitting the road around 1:30 am then picking up my sis FairyFly before shoving off. We stopped a for a few short rests on the way out, had some great conversations and some delays before making it to the BS camp around 7:30 pm. Laughter and good times as always were in the air at the Bayou Scoundrel's camp. The morning of the ceremony was a bit rough for me, I almost missed the handfasting due to being a bit upset and the ceremony starting a few minutes early. I was upset because Friday night I had lost a ring that my son gave to me and it had me quite disheartened for a good part of the weekend. Despite this I did have a great time and the faire was a beautiful place. I spent most of my time just hanging out with my fellow RF'ers and it did my soul good to be there. I also got my hat at that faire! Yay for shopping!! hehe! I hated to have to leave but life does not revolve around faire, at least not while I have a little one depending on me. Perhaps when I'm older! *chuckles*

TRF for Halloween weekend was probably my best faire experiance yet. The place is HUGE and I don't think I even saw half of it during the weekend. Now I know I have to make it back there for as many Halloween's as I can. I barely saw any shows but had such an amazing time. I can't wait to experiance more and different things next time. I think the reason it tops the best experiance yet though was because of the on site camping. Hanging out around the fire pit, people wandering in from other camps, lazying around in the morning without worrying about what time we actually made it in the front gate. I saw more people in camp then I managed to come across in the faire itself. Spending that time with the Bayou Scoundrel's though was what topped it all off. I've come to be so very close with them, since first meeting them in TN they have become family to me. I can hardly imagine going to a faire without them being there because I know when they are that the time is just that much better.

So I guess it's time I start writing about the trip, especially since I now have a Faire based place to write.

The long weekend is still almost a blur in some points but all in all I had a really wonderful time. There were a few bumps so to say. Some hurt feelings once in awhile and at least one thing a day to really alter my mood however I pushed through those things and tried not to think about them. Only once throughout the weekend did it get really bad so I just took a long drive away from everything and everyone and cleared my head. Enough about the negative though.

Friday at Nicky's was wonderful. The best part was not feeling as out of place as I thought I might. As much as I had been looking forward to the trip there was a bit of dread in me as well. Things that had happened some time ago on the board made me hesitant. Even having been back to the board for awhile now I still felt a bit outcasted and thought that would continue in person. I'm glad to say it mostly didn't. I didn't get the opportunity to really bond with some of the people I had hoped to and have felt estranged from but I did feel just as welcome as everyone else. I hope the opportunity arises to become closer to these people as I believe they are good and kind hearted and the type I'd wish to call friend.

Friday night at Bluesboro was awesome. I had such a blast and the initiations were so much fun. How could a girl not enjoy covering a bunch of guys in whipped cream and eating it off them. Of vice versa!

I of course missed opening all of the days, I can't remember the last time I actually made an opening gate show. *chuckles* But I made relatively good time all three of the days. Saturday was amazing, meeting all the people I hadn't already the night before. I came and went throughout the day, gravitating from one group to another and had an absolute blast at the auction.

Sir Ironhead's knighting Sunday morning was wonderful and I was so glad to be there for it. He and all the others who risk life, limb and happiness for the sake of our freedom and futures really do deserve to be honored and I'm glad to have been there to witness just one small way of doing so. I spent a wonderful morning with Sleepy, such a kind and gentle man. And as promised this wench was on her best behavior. As much as all of us enjoy fun I don't believe there are any of us who wish to become an issue in a relationship. I hope his wife comes to enjoy faire as much as he does, it's a wonderful feeling to share something so beloved with one who is beloved. *smiles* Lord Zenok's company made my afternoon. I only wish I hadn't been so tired from the previous late night because I think he got the raw end of the deal on that one as tiredness set in. I also made some amazing new friends whom I believe will be in my life for a long time to follow. Some people you just connect with as friends and I feel I've made a few connections. I hope to have the opportunity to expand those friendships both in real life and online.

Monday was a more difficult day for me. Emotionally driven that day to say the least but leaving the faire for awhile and taking a drive certainly helped on that front. I was able to return and fully enjoy the rest of the day with new friends and family that is being forged. *smiles* I was sad though at the end of the day because I knew there would be some I may never see again and those I would will not be for some time coming. Dinner with a small group was nice, though I wish it were a rounded table this way everyone could be part of all the amazing conversations going on. The large events are great but there's something about a smaller gathering where you reallly have time to get to know the others that touches my heart.
